Pupils will take part in a range of activities on Tuesday, September 16 to raise the profile of the Paralympic Games within the school and North East Derbyshire ahead of the handover the following day.
The culmination of the event will see a new Community Sportsability Club established at Tupton Hall School in partnership with North East Derbyshire Disability Sports Network.
This club will provide disabled children from across North East Derbyshire with the opportunity to take part in a variety of adapted games and sports, such as Boccia, Table Cricket and Zone Hockey.
The club will cater for children who have a range of disabilities and disabled children are also encouraged to bring friends and family along with them to take part in the activities.
The club will begin on Monday 6th October from 5.00pm – 6.30pm. The first session will be free of charge and all members of the club will be issued with a free club t-shirt after completing six sessions at the club. The sessions will be delivered by fully qualified and CRB checked coaches and sessions will cost £2 per session.
Disabled performers who show potential to excel within any of the sports played will have to opportunity to progress through to local, regional or national levels, dependant upon the sport.
