Derby's 12-year-old snooker international Hannah Jones was beaten only by past or present world champions as the women’s season kicked off in Clay Cross at the weekend.
The Ecclesbourne School-girl has climbed to tenth in the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association rankings.
In the invitation-only Ł1,400 Wytech Masters at the North East Derbyshire SC, Hannah (pictured) eased past Maureen Logan, from Tyne & Wear, 3-0.
She pocketed Ł65 after a 3-0 quarter-final exit to world billiards champion Emma Bonney.
The following day in the UK Championships, the first ranking event of the season, Hannah beat Cue Ball SC-colleague Joanne Davies 3-1 but went out 3-0 to four-time world snooker champion Reanne Evans.
Another victory over Logan, 2-1, and a 2-1 fluked pink win against Newcastle’s Pam Wood set Hannah up for a Plate final clash with Suzie Opacic.
The 20-year-old from Hampshire had beaten Hannah in the World Ladies Junior final in 2006.
Hannah, who won the title this year, lost 2-1.
