Inclusive Fitness Initiative Awards 2008

The event, sponsored by Cybex, will recognise and reward IFI accredited facilities in developing inclusive physical activity for disabled people.

Nominations for the awards are currently open, and can be made in eight categories via the IFI website.

Recognition will be given to Innovation in Inclusive Marketing, Building Outstanding Partnerships, Creating Inclusive Environments, Engaging Volunteers, Individual Commitment to Inclusive Fitness, Developing Sport for All, Demonstrating Corporate Commitment and the IFI Award of Outstanding Achievement 2008.

On the evening itself, the evening meal will be followed by an inspirational speech from British personality Michael McGrath. Michael is an acclaimed motivational speaker, diversity champion, polar adventurer and the only disabled person in the world to have conquered both North and South Poles. Michael's remarkable life story is one of consistently overcoming incredible odds.

Sue Catton, IFI National Director, said: "The Inclusive Fitness Awards are a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge the work that the fitness industry has done to include disabled people so far. The awards are not a recognition of achieving an ultimate goal, they are more an endorsement of the outstanding progress being made and an incentive to continue to improve the service our industry offers year on year."

Tickets to attend the Inclusive Fitness Initiative Awards 2008 are now available for £40.00 per person (inc vat).
