FA award for Dronfield Town

6 October 2008

Dronfield Town FC have been awarded a National FA Charter Standard Administrator Award 2008, as well as scoping the regional accolade.
Darren Bradwell, Club Secretary for Dronfield Town was nominated for the national award in recognition for his dedicated involvement with junior football and his services to the club and for his efforts as a valued committee member of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Girls County League.

Darren said: “To be honest I am totally dumbfounded! What I do I do for the kids, the little ones especially as it is watching them play and enjoying themselves on Saturday and Sunday, or on training nights, that drives me on!

“I also have to say that the award really should be for all the marvellous volunteers we have at Dronfield Town FC. The club is a big and thriving club which is all down to the hard work and dedication of each and every volunteer at the club.”

Some of Darren’s achievements to date include helping Dronfield Town achieve FA Charter Standard Status and facilitating the club growth from 12 to 29 teams - including the introduction of three girls teams three years ago which has also grown to six.

He has also organised coach education programmes for Dronfield Town staff and set up overseas travel for U15s to play tournaments including a recent trip for girls sides to Sindelfingen, Germany.

Darren has been invited to Wembley for FA Club VIP Matchday Experience to receive his award at the England v Kazakhstan World Cup 2010 Qualification match on Saturday, October 11.
