Eight students from the special school will fly out to China later this month, where they will take part in sports and cultural activities, spending four days in Beijing and four days in Shanghai.
Joined by four members of staff, the four boys and four girls, who are all aged between 14 and 16, will visit Yang Fan Special School in Shanghai.
The school has close links with Stubbin Wood, which received a visit from a Chinese Delegation travelling from the Yang Pu District of Shanghai earlier this year.
One of the aims of the trip is to share ideas and practice, and the British visitors will be taking several pieces of sports equipment with them.
The staff from Stubbin Wood will get the chance to teach some PE lessons while there.
The trip will also allow the pupils to experience a way of life away from North Eastern Derbyshire, and is being funded by contributions by Bolsover District Council and Derbyshire County Council.
Carolyn Briggs, International Co-ordinator at Stubbin Wood School, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students. They will be experiencing a completely different culture which will help to broaden their horizons and widen their experiences.”
The group from Stubbin Wood School will fly to Shanghai on October 24. They will spend four days in Shanghai before taking an overnight train to Beijing, where they will also spend four days before returning home.
