The Barrow Hill ‘B Happy’ project is competing for £50,000 of BIG Lottery money to go towards a much needed recreational area for young people.
The viewing public will be asked to choose between the Barrow Hill project and another project in the Leeds area when it goes live on ITV Yorkshire on November 25.
Councillor Keith Morgan, Lead Member for Healthy Communities and Leisure said: “We’ve done incredibly well to get this far in the bid to have the Barrow Hill project included in the Peoples Millions vote so we need to get everyone in the Borough on board with the project and to vote on the day.
“We’ve been working with the Barrow Hill community for quite sometime in putting this project together and they are all desperate to have this teen play area put in place to give young people somewhere to meet, socialise and reduce the levels of anti-social behaviour.”
Residents in and around Chesterfield are been encouraged to vote on the day as the project with the most votes will secure the project’s funding. Each landline and mobile is allowed 10 votes and calls will cost no more than 10p.
The voting line number will be published at 9am on November 25 and will remain live until midnight. You can get details of the number from Chesterfield Borough Council website (opens in a new window) or the Daily Mirror on the day.
