Olympians and paralympians honoured with parade at Pride Park

Derbyshire Olympic swimmer Ross Davenport and Paralympic footballer Leon Taylor were among those honoured by Derby County Football Club, with a Parade at Pride Park Stadium.

Ross, from Belper, led the Derby County team out on to the pitch ahead of their match against Nottingham Forest Football Club, along with double Olympic gold medal winner Rebecca Adlington.

They were joined by other Olympians and Paralympians from the region, including Derbyshire’s Leon Taylor, Paralympic officials Martin Mansell and Chris Cohen, and Sarah Smith, who was one of only three members of the East Midlands junior archery squad who travelled to Beijing with Great Britain’s archery team.

Also taking part in the Parade were swimmers Julia Beck, Kate Kaywood, Joanne Jackson and Liam Tannock, and table tennis player James Rawson.
