Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for all organisations involving volunteers and aims to improve the quality of the volunteering experience for all volunteers and organisations to acknowledge the enormous contribution made by volunteers. Investing in Volunteers is managed by the UK Volunteering Forum and delivered by Volunteering England, Volunteer Development Scotland, Volunteer Development Agency in Northern Ireland and Wales Council for Voluntary Action.
Sporting Futures was assessed against a range of best practice standards and proved to excel in all aspects of working with its volunteers.
Sporting Futures is a charitable organisation that works with young people throughout Derbyshire. The charity provides sporting opportunities through community settings and 1-2-1 mentoring to young people who are socially excluded and enables them to build meaningful relationships with family, friends and the wider community in which they live.
Sarah Clarke Operations Manager for Sporting Futures said “ As a charity we have voluntary opportunities throughout our organisation from our Trustees to our community sport sessions and for our major fundraising event the DerbyshireBuilding Society10k. We appreciate the time and effort our volunteers commit to our programmes and we hope that this award shows them that we are committed to ensuring they have a good experience with Sporting Futures. Working towards the award has been hard work but we are delighted to have achieved the standard and will continue to build on the good practices we have in place”
Sporting Futures is always looking for volunteers to work with young people on a 1-2-1 basis (full training given) at our community sports coaching sessions or on the Derbyshire Building Society 10k. Anyone interested can contact Julie Barker Volunteer Manager on 01332 613156 or email Julie@sporting-futures.org.uk
