Four Glossop Judo Club fighters compete in the Netherlands

Last weekend saw four of Glossop Judo Club’s fighters travel over to Eindhoven in The Netherlands to compete in the 2008 Mierlo International.

Representing the High Peak Club were Rhiannon Baldwin, Jamie Cowle, Sam Hall and Eric Ham. First up was 2007 National Champion, Sam Hall.

Sam won three of his five fights and was unlucky not to pick up a medal mainly due to some rather strange refereeing decisions.

Next up was Jamie Cowle. This was Jamie’s first competition abroad and although losing two of his three fights fought well throughout and will certainly grow in confidence from the experience.

Rhiannon Baldwin fought next winning two of her three fights and bringing home an impressive second place trophy from her first competition abroad.

Last to fight was the experienced High Peak Junior sportsman of the Year, Eric Ham. Eric performed admirably winning all of his five fights with ease to bring home another fine 1st place trophy.
