But for those who don’t fancy putting their running shoes on this time around, there are still ways to show your support and get involved – by becoming a volunteer.
The race is now in its seventh year, and has grown to a capacity of 3500 runners, meaning more volunteers are needed than ever before.
To enable the event on April 20 to run smoothly and efficiently, organisers Sporting Futures - which uses sport to reach out to young people – is looking for 200 volunteers to help in a variety of roles.
Depending on how many hours you have, there are many different roles and responsibilities that volunteers can take on, from dealing with entries and registration to becoming a route marshal.
Anyone wishing to help will benefit from full training, as well as gaining experience as part of a large successful event.
Volunteers will also receive a certificate as a record of the hours they have given up to help others.
Anyone interested in finding out more should contact Julie Barker at Julie@sporting-futures.org.uk or telephone 01332 702630.
This unique race will combine the historical route of Derby City centre and the modern setting of Pride Park and is one of only three street races to finish inside a stadium.
