Nominations open for 2008 Sports Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2008 Sports Awards.

Local Authority nomination forms are now available, and individuals involved in sport either as a performer, coach or volunteer are being sought for Sports Awards in eight districts.

District events will be held for Amber Valley, Bolsover, Derby City, Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire, Erewash, High Peak, South Derbyshire and the Derbyshire Dales.

Winners will then go forward for a chance to be named the best in the county at the Derbyshire Sports Awards.

The awards provide a way of recognising and celebrating the successes of local athletes and people involved in sport in the county.

Awards will be given to people from all areas of sport, from community heroes who have provided a service to sport for over five years, to top sports stars from the county.

Nominees should be entered into the awards for the district they live in, or if they live outside the county they should be nominated in the district they compete/coach/volunteer in.

Categories include Sportsperson of the Year, Disabled Sportsperson of the Year, Team of the Year, Club of the Year, and Community Coach of the Year.

Nominations for the Bolsover awards must be received by July 18.

Nominations for the South Derbyshire awards must be received by July 31.

Nominations for the Derby City, Derbyshire Dales, High Peak, Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire, Erewash and Amber Valley awards must be received by August 22.
