Derbyshire man receives OBE for voluntary service to sport

Alan Sommerville, from Alfreton in Derbyshire, has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours. 

The former Chief Executive and now Chairman of British Gymnastics, received the honour for voluntary service in sport.

He has been involved with gymnastics for more than 40 years, and helped set up a number of clubs in Derbyshire in the 1970s.

After a career in teaching and leisure management he became chief executive of British Gymnastics, a post he held for seven years before becoming chairman.
