Sue Campbell, Chair of the Youth Sport Trust, attended the event and was invited to judge the competition for the best team banner.
The event, which was held at Chapel-en-le-frith High School showcased 13 performances from years 5, 6 and 7 pupils across the borough.
The Loud and Proud project was initiated through the High Peak Cheerleading Development Group, which is made up of the following partners:
The project, funded by Big Lottery decided to produce a showcase for all the school teams within the High Peak School Sport Partnership.
Each school adopted a cheerleading team name and made a banner to represent their team.
Sue Campbell then judged the Banners and awarded t-shirts to the winning team, ‘Tintwistle Ignition’.
During the afternoon there were performances from the Youth, Junior and Senior Spirit Shockers Cheerleaders squads, who are the Glossop based Loud and Proud club. These performances involved dance, gymnastics, motions, chants and also stunting.
Organisers would like to say a big thank you to all the support from key partners, Spirit Shockers, High Peak School Sport Partnership, St Philip Howard Sports College, High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire Sport who helped make the event a huge success.
Loud and Proud intend to develop clubs in the Chapel and Buxton areas by the end of 2008. For more information please contact Hannah Jones: spirit_shockers@yahoo.co.uk .
