Taking first place in the girls’ event was Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, with Highfields School second and Hope Valley College in third place.
The event is one of a series of Sportshall Athletics competitions held across Derbyshire which are sponsored by East Midlands Airport, and the winning boys and girls teams from the Derbyshire Dales will now go forward to represent the district at the year seven East Midlands Airport Derbyshire Sportshall Athletics County Championships in March.
The year seven event also followed a Derbyshire Dales Sportshall Athletics Championships for year five and six pupils.
There the team from Great Longstone Primary School took the winners’ trophy, Clifton Primary School was second and St Joseph’s Primary finished in third place. The year five and six East Midlands Airport Derbyshire Sportshall Athletics County Championships will also take place in March.
Sportshall Athletics is traditional track and field brought indoors, using specially adapted equipment. Events include indoor javelin, standing long jump, hurdles and obstacle relays, all designed to test speed, strength, coordination, agility and balance.
