Eight students from the special school spent four days in Beijing and four days in Shanghai on a sporting ‘exchange’ trip, which included teaching a fit ball lesson to students at Shanghai’s Yang Fan Special School.
The group also took part in a mini Olympic activity, and learnt some martial arts.
Carolyn Briggs, International Co-ordinator at Stubbin Wood School, said: “All the students from Stubbin Wood had a great time – they also took part in cooking lessons, art lessons, visited a student’s house and made dumplings with Grandma.”
Among the eight pupils who travelled to China were Alison Greaves, Antony Cartlidge, Charlotte Godley, Jordan Berresford and Thoimas Shirley, who were accompanied by staff Carolyn Briggs, Lesley Mee, Julie Buckingham and Hazel Renshaw.
During their visit the group also visited the Olympic site, the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace, and did a mini project about disabled access in China.
All the students enjoyed their trip very much.
Alison said: “It was so good to make friends in China - they are just like us and it was good fun teaching them the fit ball.”
Thomas added: “I have never been on a plane for that long before but it was worth it - China is really good and it was good to see the school that we have only seen in leaflets.”
