National awards for Erewash leisure centres
Sandiacre Friesland Sports Centre and Albion Leisure Centre have both won a national award for excellence in customer satisfaction.
The leisure centres both made the top ten after taking part in a Sport England National Benchmarking Survey.
Earlier this year customers were asked different questions about their experiences at the centre over a nine day period.
The results were then compared against other leisure centres across the country and this year both centres were among the best performers in England.
This is the second year that Friesland Sports Centre has been recognised by Sport England. In 2006 the centre won the NBS award for excellence in customer satisfaction and West Park Leisure Centre won a similar award from the NBS for access to services.
In addition, West Park Leisure Centre has recently received a national award for swimming pool safety.
The award from the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management looks at lifeguarding, staff training, pool plant operation, water treatment and general health and safety in the pool environment.
The centre was assessed over a full day in November and was presented with the National Pool Safety Award in January.
