More Derbyshire Talented Athlete Fund bursary recipients to be named
The next round of athletes who are to receive bursaries from the Derbyshire Talented Athlete Fund are to be announced later this month.
A further 43 talented sports performers from across the county have been selected to receive £300 each to help training and competition costs, and the names of the athletes will be announced during a launch at County Hall in Matlock on March 18.
Attending the launch will be representatives from some of the funders, including Derbyshire County Council, Chesterfield Borough Council and Derbyshire Dales District Council, as well as six of the chosen athletes and their parents.
The athletes chosen to receive bursaries are from a wide variety of sports, including basketball, boxing, gymnastics, hockey, swimming and sailing, and include sports performers from Chesterfield, Bolsover, Amber Valley, Derby, Derbyshire Dales, South Derbyshire, Erewash and High Peak.
All are competing for England or Great Britain or have the potential to do so within the next 18 months.
Performers from all sports recognised by Sport England are eligible for bursaries, except those already receiving individual lottery awards or TASS funding.
