Hundreds turn out for ten-mile Hardwick Hall walk
Around 400 people took to the outdoors to take part in a ten-mile circular walk at Derbyshire’s Hardwick Hall on Sunday, raising money for the British Heart Foundation.
Walkers followed a route which took them along the Rowthorne and Teversal trails, across fields and through the Hardwick Estate.
The event was an opportunity for Derbyshire residents to get active and help their own hearts while raising money for others whose hearts need a helping hand.
Experienced walkers were joined by those who had never walked ten miles before, and saw families, friends and workmates getting together for the event.
Among those taking part were Derbyshire Sport Marketing Officer Rachel Weir and Marketing and Communications Assistant Nikki Sargeson (pictured).
Joined by two friends, they raised around £250 for charity.
Nikki said: “The walk was really enjoyable and there was some great scenery along the way.
“Although a little cold, it was a lovely sunny day and it was great to get active, with the added incentive of raising money for charity.”
The event was the first walk staged at Hardwick Hall by the British Heart Foundation, and it is hoped that it will raise £10,000.
A similar event for Derbyshire, at Calke Abbey, is planned for March 16. Click here for details.
