Derbyshire women urged to join Race for Life
An event which encourages women to get active by walking, jogging or running is returning to Derbyshire later this year.
Race for Life - the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event - will be staged at various locations across the county.
Organised by Cancer Research UK, it is open to women of all levels of fitness.
Within Derbyshire, events have so far been confirmed to be held at:
- Darley Park, Derby
Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11 - Bakewell Showground
Sunday, May 18 - Donington Park, Derby
Wednesday, July 2
Each event allows participants to run, jog or walk a 5km course.
There is no prize for first place and almost half the participants choose to walk the course.
The event also raises money for Cancer Research UK through sponsorship.
Last year, 665,000 women took part at 280 venues across the UK between May and July.
