Hundreds of young people across the county are preparing performances set to amaze audiences at Derby Assembly Rooms with this year’s ‘Rock Challenge’ competitions on Tuesday May 5th. Book now to avoid disappointment!

The Rock Challenge – is an international performing arts competition for schools and colleges that focuses on driving home positive messages about substance misuse and crime prevention by providing young people with the opportunity to experience a ‘drug free high’.

This year the global message is ‘Be Your Best – Be Yourself’ encouraging young people to realise that they can be their best without the need for tobacco, alcohol or other substances, experiencing the natural drug free high of being involved in this global event. This year as well as the UK, the Rock Challenge reaches out across the world to young people in Australia, South Africa, Europe, Tokyo, Poland and Dubai.

In the UK the event is produced by the Be Your Best Foundation a registered charity set up to promote the education, health and citizenship of young people. Now in its 13th year the event originated in Australia and was introduced into the UK by the Hampshire Constabulary in 1996.

Stuart McGregor, PR Manager said “This is a fantastic initiative which celebrates a positive image of young people. They achieve and experience so much from participation in this event. It provides an exciting combination of lifestyle choices through music and dance which encourages our young people to realise their true potential without the need for drugs or alcohol, the whole team love coming to Grimsby and this year is no different”.

As part of the event, all team members make a personal commitment to each other to be the best that they can be without the use of tobacco, alcohol, solvents or illegal drugs.
