Derbyshire Dales Festivals of Sport
Saturday 10 September is when it’s all happening in Bakewell! The Youth BzR and Festival of Sport, organised by Derbyshire Dales District Council, will be taking place at Bakewell Recreation ground, Bakewell Pool and the Agricultural Business Centre.
The Youth BzR , taking place at the Agricultural Business Centre from 10am to 5pm, is an opportunity for young people to share their views on topics such as the environment and their local community. The BzR will feature the ‘Big Brother’ diary room, ‘Have I got views for you?’ sessions for young people to discuss and debate issues that are important to them, Stickman Higgins – expression through music and the ‘Destination Earth’ theatre group for young people aged 7 to 12. The Waste Exhibition Vehicle and the Mobile Skate Park will also be going along on the day.
Bakewell Pool and the Recreation Ground will be the main centres for the Festival of Sport with tennis coaching, football coaching, cricket, hockey and kiting taking place at the Recreation Ground from 10am to 5pm.
Swimming, Water Polo and sub-aqua sessions will take place at Bakewell Pool throughout the day. All activities are free and open to young people aged 7 to 19. Local sports clubs, English Nature, the Young Farmers and the local PCT will also be taking part. All sessions are supervised by qualified coaches.
The District Council has also organised other Festivals of Sport and Youth BzRs at Wirksworth Leisure Centre on Saturday 10 September and Ashbourne Leisure Centre on 17 September 2005.
