Cash injection to help train Derbyshire's sporting workforce
An enhanced training programme is to be delivered to those working within sport in Derbyshire, thanks to additional funding from Sport England.
Derbyshire Sport is to receive just over £32,000 after its workforce development Community Investment Fund bid was given Stage Two approval.
The new funding for the county is part of a bid worth £53,150 to deliver a number of objectives from the Derbyshire Workforce Development Plan.
This will include the delivery of a co-ordinated training programme of soft skills workshops to meet needs identified from questionnaires and consultation of Derbyshire Sport Officers and key partners such as Sports Development Officers, Partnership Development Managers, Governing Body Officers and School Sports Co-ordinators.
The funding will also support all Community Sports Coaches and Coach Mark pilot coaches gain Level 2 and 3 qualifications as well as a range of Minimum Operating Standard qualifications to ensure high quality delivery of coaching.
Funding will also be available to support leaders within the Derbyshire Leadership Academy to take the first steps to becoming a Sports Coach, and to put in place an improved system for identifying current coach provision within Derbyshire and what follow up support is needed.
