Awards scheme seeks local sporting champions
An awards scheme which looks to reward those who go the extra mile to help their local community is searching for people who make a difference through sport.
The Community Champions awards aim to recognise individuals and teams across much of Derbyshire in 12 categories.
This includes Unsung Sporting Hero, and so organisers are keen to receive nominations for people who perhaps give up their time to coach a local team, wash their kit or contribute in other ways.
Other categories include the Extra Mile award, for people who go that extra mile outside their job to be involved in the community, and the Volunteer category for people who give up their own time for the good of the wider community.
Nominations must be made by Friday, April 4, and winners will be announced on Sunday, May 18.
