New Derbyshire location for Eroica Britannia cycling and family lifestyle festival
The Eroica Britannia cycling and family lifestyle festival will be held at a new location in Derbyshire for 2017.
It will be held in the farmlands surrounding Friden Grange in the Peak District National Park, which is seven miles from Bakewell where it has been held for the past three years, and is 11 miles south-east of Buxton just off the Newhaven to Cromford Via Gellia road.
The High Peak Trail runs straight through the new festival site and the new location means there will be changes to the three route bike tour, which will be announced at a later date.
The festival will take place on June 16 to 18, with the three route bike tour being held on June 18. There will be a choice of 30mile, 55mile and 100mile routes, all ridden on ancient, 'bone shaking' roads using obsolete bikes (pre 1987 only) dressed in traditional and vintage clothing.
The 2016 event was the third to have been held in Bakewell and the most successful to date with more than 4,600 riders taking part in the mass cycle participation event.
