Manager/Coach of the Year

Mel Marshall was Manager/Coach of the Year, with her award collected by City of Derby Swimming Club.

Like her famous charge, Adam Peaty's coach, City of Derby Swimming Club's Mel Marshall, made it three consecutive wins in the Manager/Coach of the Year category.

She edged out Liam Pitchford's coach Alan Cooke, of Lower Pilsley, North East Derbyshire and Gareth Pilkington, of Riddings, Amber Valley, who set up and coaches the Amber Valley Tigers Ladies rugby team.

"The Amber Valley club was set up as part of an initiative from the Derbyshire Village Games and has grown from there," said Gareth. "The girls just wanted to get fit to start with but gradually it got more intense and now they've been playing in a league for a year-and-a-half now.

"I'm immensely proud to get this recognition and I've said it to all the girls that without what they have done I wouldn't be here. This is them, the club and all the support behind us that's got us to this point."
