Paralympic hopeful Cameron McLean has been presented with a cheque for £2,175 from Felix Frixou of Benz Bavarian towards the purchase of his own racing wheelchair.
Cameron, from Ecclesbourne School, was talent spotted at a Playground to Podium event last year, and is now training hard with the aim of competing in wheelchair racing at the 2016 Paralympic Games.
Since taking up wheelchair racing Cameron has been using borrowed equipment, but in order to perform to his full potential he needs his own specially adapted racing wheelchair.
After hearing about Cameron, businessman Felix Frixou of Benz Bavarian in Duffield stepped in with a donation, and presented a cheque to Cameron on the pitch at Pride Park Stadium in Derby during half-time at the Derby FC vs Barnsley FC match.
Cameron, who is in the cerebral palsy classification group T33, competed at the Virgin London Mini Marathon in April, and won a silver medal in the 100m at the Nationwide Disability Sports Championships in July.
