Sporting Futures

Sporting Futures is a Derbyshire Charity; our aim is to use sport to reduce anti social behaviour, crime and drug use amongst 8-16 year olds. We offer community sports sessions during evenings, weekends and school holidays. Training opportunities to young people through Sports Leadership and National Governing body awards and a bespoke mentoring programme. We currently have the following vacancies:

Sporting Futures has had a project in the Erewash Borough of Derbyshire for the past 5 years, funded by the Primary Care Trust and Erewash Community Safety Partnership, the current funding for this post is for one year with the view to further year’s extension.

Community Sport Development Officer - Erewash 37.5 HRS PER WEEK scale 5points 22-25 £18,693-£20,501 1 year initial contract.

The post holder will be expected to line manage a part time community sport officer, work in partnership with local Schools, Police, Youth Services and local community organisations. Organise community sports programmes, deliver Leadership training and work with young people to develop volunteering opportunities.

The successful applicant will be qualified to a minimum of NGB level 2 or equivalent and have experience of Sport Development within a community setting. Working directly with young people aged 8-16 years they will ensure that an appropriate and varied sport and leisure programme is delivered to young people in the area. Experience of working in sport and with young people through detached work would be desirable. The successful applicant will be expected to work unsocial hours including evenings, weekends and school holidays.
