Jessie Westnidge

Jessie Westnidge.

Jessie is a 19-year-old swimmer from Marsh Lane who won the 5k Open Water competition at the National Championships, qualified for the Olympic trials in the 400m and 800m freestyle and was selected onto level three of the England Programme.

Jessie says: "I have been suffering with various injuries that are still being investigated and treated and am still following a physio programme for my shoulder and elbow, plus I am scheduled an MRI scan on my foot.

"The injuries have prevented me from training and competing of late, as it was aggravating them and making them worse.

"I am hoping to go to university next year, and hopefully I will be fully recovered and be able to pick up my swimming career as I feel that I still could be successful.

"I would like to thank ICON for all the support they have given me whilst swimming so far."
