The 19-year-old, from Heanor, and a member of the Lotto Soudal Under-23 squad and the Derbyshire Institute of Sport programme, took sixth place in the National Road Championships Under-23 Time Trial.
James says: "Having raced from February through to the first week of October, I am now taking a month off the bike before starting my winter training.
"I will gradually build up the miles throughout November and December before going into a more structured training block after Christmas in preparation for the 2016 season.
"The season begins with a team training camp in Spain in early February before returning back to Belgium for the early season races starting March. I will again be based out in Belgium for 2016 where I have signed for a second year with Lotto Soudal Under-23.
"I am currently speaking with my DS to put together a race programme. This season I am looking to move up to the next level in the team where I will be one of the more established riders.
"My ambition in 2016 is to start where I finished off in 2015 by challenging for podium finishes in both UCI one day races and five day tours.
"My longer term my ambition would be to stay as an Under-23 for at least the 2016 season and probably the 2017 season before turning professional with a major continental team for the following year. Before then however, a lot of hard miles and hard races lie ahead."
