We know that everyone feels pride when our local sports stars are successful within Olympic or Commonwealth Games or whilst competing for England and Great Britain. When our athletes get to the podium, we want them to feel that partners in the county have contributed to their success and that they succeeded because of the start they got in Derbyshire, rather than in spite of it.

Membership income from ICON will be used to help strengthen the talent pathways in sport in Derbyshire. The majority of the funds will be used to provide bursaries for Derbyshire’s most talented young sports performers.

We have more than 100 who are competing for England or Great Britain. In addition the funds will also support the education and development of many voluntary coaches who work in clubs, with county squads and with talented athletes in the county.
