Welcome to ICON

The ICON programme aims to recognise, celebrate and support talented athletes from across Derbyshire.

When our athletes get to the podium at a in major competition - as did Adam Peaty, Liam Pitchford and Caroline Povey at the 2014 Commonwealth Games - or achieve another significant accolade in their chosen sport, we want them to feel they were given a helping hand by their county.

That's why Derbyshire Sport introduced ICON in 2010 to strengthen the links between sport and businesses in Derby and Derbyshire, with members raising funds to provide bursaries to our most talented young sports performers.

Free leisure access for athletes

All 10 local authorities in Derbyshire are also members, providing free access to leisure facilities and helping raise the profiles of athletes in their areas.

All of the funds raised through ICON go directly to the talented athletes, with well over 100 currently supported across eight districts and boroughs, as well as Derby.
