15-year-old compound archer Hollie, from Heanor Gate School, is a member of the Archery GB Development and Junior Compound Squad. She competed for GB at the European Youth Cup and was selected as reserve for both the Cadet (Under-18) and Junior (Under-20) team for the European Championships having narrowly missed out on selection for the full team. Hollie is well on her way to qualifying for the 2017 World Youth Championships, with more selection shoots to come.
Hollie says: "My ultimate goal for 2017 is to make the team for the World Youth Championships and to medal in the cadet team event.
"This being my GCSE year, mixing training and revising will take some juggling, but I have created a plan for my training to work around my GCSEs. I'm currently training around five to six times a week, which is a mixture of shooting/technical work and core strength work.
"In the build up to the World Championships, I will be mainly focusing on qualifying events, UK ranking events and international training events including: The World Indoor Cup stage 3 – Nimes, France; The European Youth Cup stage 1 – Marathon, Greece; The European Youth Cup stage 2 – Porec, Croatia; The Archery GB National Series stages 1 to 6, with the goal of making the national series final; The British Senior Indoor and Outdoor Championships."
