George is an eight-year-old cyclist from Bolsover who rides for the Bolsover and District Cycling Club and this year won the National Mountain Biking Under-9s title, as well as racing in the European Youth Tour of Assen in the Netherlands. Next year he hopes to win circuit races despite being a first year Under-10 rider and one day dreams of being World Grand Tour rider or Olympic rider.
George says: I love biking, and really like winning. I have been a member of Bolsover and District Cycling Club for several years and I also represent my school - Bolsover Church of England Junior School.
"I compete in cyclo-cross, mountain bike and circuit racing, but my favourite is mountain biking.
"My training is mostly fun riding, I particularly enjoy going out on my mountain bike with my family and friends. My favourite places for riding are Sherwood Pines and Cannock Chase trail centres. I also train on my road bike at Harvey Hadden Sports Village each week and during the school holidays.
"My goals for the next 12 months are to win the Under-9 category of the Notts and Derby Cyclo-Cross League and finish in the top three of the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League, where I am in the first year of the Under-10 category.
"I also aim to win a coloured jersey at the European Junior Cycling Tour in Assen, Holland and improve on my fifth place in the overall classification."
