National Schools Sailing Association Youth Regatta - Volunteering Opportunity

From the 21st – 25th July Derbyshire is hosting the National Schools Sailing Association Youth Regatta at Carsington Water. The event is being hosted at Carsington Sailing Club by Derbyshire Youth Sailing.

The event will see teams of young sailors from around the country competing in a series of races through out the week in a variety of boats. It is expected that we will have some 300 young people taking part in the event.

This is quite a large event and we need volunteer help and support both in the build up to the event and during the event itself.

There will be no actual coaching expected but taking part in the event will give you experience of working on a large national event and seeing how things run.

Potential jobs include:

  • Event set up prior to the event (setting out fencing, putting up signs etc)
  • Car park duty
  • Results runner (don’t worry you shouldn't have to actually run to much!)
  • Beach masters assistant (helping to control the launching of the right boats at the right time)
  • Tally board assistant (ensuring all the sailors have logged being on or off the water)
  • Regatta Fleet assistant (helping the younger/beginner sailors to launch/recover their boats
  • Litter picking

As a thank you for you help lunches will be provided.
