The 11-year-old speed skater, from Ashbourne and a member of the Rollerworld Club, won the National Marathon Championships, two silver medals at the National Indoor Championships and three silvers at the National Outdoor Championships.

Finnbarr says: "2015 has been a very busy year for me. I am passionate about sport and try to fit in as much sport as possible! I fell run, play cricket for Clifton Cricket Club, having county trials in September, play football for Aztec Under-11s and compete internationally at inline speed skating.

"In February 2015, I competed in Evergem, Belgium, coming third overall to win a bronze medal and trophy, but also won a relay with another British girl.

"At home in the UK, I competed in the British Championships in Indoor, Outdoor and Marathon racing, increasing my British Championship titles to 15.

"I also won the Marathon event at the Olympic Park in London, leading for the entirety of the distance.

"I am now settling in to my winter training programme, and have also recently started ice speed skating at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham, winning my first novice race.

"I was delighted to be nominated and to win the Derbyshire Dales Young Sportsman of the Year 2015.

"In 2016, I hope to take part in more international inline races, with five events already planned in Europe and I have plans to race on ice at a more competitive level."
