The seminars will focus on the importance of equipping your staff to expand and develop to work with a wide range of users in your fitness suite.
‘Active and Involved – developing a skilled and effective workforce’ is a day long seminar looking at current trends within the fitness industry within the training realm.
Sara Wicebloom representing YMCAfit will discuss the qualifications needed to work with disabled people in fitness suites and the subsequent rewards for both staff and users.
She will also challenge the discrepancy that exists between the number of fully qualified instructors and the number working with disabled people.
Following this A4e will present on the advantages of employing disabled people and creating a workforce that truly represents the community from which users are a part of.
The afternoon session includes Sarah Cohen from EFDS and Aimee Stokes of the IFI who will explore the use of volunteers within your facility and the knowledge and support they can provide followed by a case study of a fitness instructor from an IFI Site who will provide first hand insight into how they became engaged in the fitness industry and developing their skills has provided them with confidence in working with disabled people.
