Emily Coope

Emily Coope.

100m sprinter Emily is from Kilburn. The 16-year-old Belper School pupil is a member of Amber Valley & Erewash Athletic Club and competed at the UK School Games, winning a silver medal in the 100m and bronze in the 4 x 100m relay. Her selection for the UK School Games followed her fifth place finish at the English Schools Championship.

Emily says: "I am currently training on a Monday night at the DIS under the supervision of Chris Freebury, doing strength and conditioning. I do sprint training three sessions a week, which consist of speed, endurance and technical work. These are done on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

"Over the next 12 months, I am going into an unknown area, as I move up to the under-20 age group, where there will br team events for the club and opens meetings to take part in. From any of these events I would like to get my 100m time to below 12 seconds and 200m time to below 25 seconds.

"I am looking to make the English Schools Championships for the fifth year running and to make the final again. There is the National Championships to take part in also and would like to make the final there again too.

Looking to the future I would like to get an England selection and maybe a GB selection."
