Derby Disability Sport
The Derby Disability Sport Partnership formed in May 2005 with an aim of developing sporting opportunities for disabled people in Derby City.
The group meets quarterly and works together to identify gaps in provision for disabled people and how these can be addressed based on the needs of the people who live in the city of Derby.
What has the group achieved?
- A local cricket club has become involved in developing a club for people with a learning or physical disability.
- Opportunities for disabled footballers have increased
- A Boccia club has been established at Derby Moor School.
- Created a network of sharing information
- Helped set up Derbyshire's first wheelchair basket ball club based at Derby College and Noel Baker School, Derby.
