Derbyshire Competition Frameworks
Since January 2006 Derbyshire Sport has been taking a strategic lead on a review of competition within the county.
A national drive initiated by the National Council for School Sport called for ‘A World Class System of Competitive Sport for young people, a step-change in the content, structure and presentation of competitive opportunities and a heightened profile for competitive school sport’. In real terms, a call to modernise, eliminate duplication and over competition and broaden the range of opportunities at the base.
The subsequent review in Derbyshire has resulted in the development of 12 Derbyshire Competition Frameworks. These include information on both school and club competitions and are intended to show, in a simple format, the appropriate competition for children in each age-group and how the competitions link together to form a progressive player pathway.
Each Framework includes an introductory page, followed by a diagram illustrating the appropriate competitions. Each competition within the diagram is accompanied by an explanation and further information in the subsequent section. Calendars of all sports demonstrate how the competitions should be scheduled throughout the year.
