The award is aimed at young people aged 15 to 19 (25 if they have a learning or physical disability) who are currently involved in participating in youth provision and would like to volunteer and gain qualifications to enable them to work towards being a sports coach.

As part of the Sports Volunteer Award the young person will be supported to:

  • Attend an Emergency First Aid Course
  • Attend a Safeguarding and Protecting Children Course
  • Identify an appropriate volunteer placement and complete 30 hours volunteering
  • Attend a Level 1 Course, and/or additional coaching courses, such as FUNdamentals of Movement, Multi Skills Courses, or other leadership awards.

In addition to this the young person will also become part of the Derbyshire Leadership Academy and become a priority for further funding through the Derbyshire Sport Coach Bursary Fund.

Young People who are interested in this process can find out more by looking at the documents in the related documents section.

Application forms need to be completed and returned to your local Sport Volunteer Award contact (see application form for details).
