The aims of Derbyshire Sport are to increase participation in sport, improve levels of performance in sport and promote the value of sport in improving quality of life.
Bursary Conditions
The aim of the Coach Bursary Fund is to encourage and support the personal and professional development of coaches working in Derbyshire through subsidising the costs of coach education.
In order to be considered for a grant coaches, whether paid or voluntary, must be coaching in Derbyshire and fit into one of the categories below:
Coaching within a voluntary sector club
Sport Unlimited / Sportivate
Supporting talented athletes
Supporting young leaders
Working towards / achieved the Derbyshire Coach Mark
The maximum grant that can be claimed per organisation i.e. club in any two year period commencing 1 April is:
Level 1 - £600
Level 2 - £600
Coaches will be able to apply for a maximum of 50 per cent of the total cost up to a maximum of £200.
A number of themed rounds have also been introduced, and coaches who meet the criteria for a themed round may qualify for up to 65 per cent of the total cost of a course, up to a maximum of £300. More details can be found using the linked on the left.
The panel recommend that clubs/organisations identify their coach education needs over each two year period commencing in April each year so that the bursary fund may support coaches that meet the critera to stand the best chance of receiving some support.
The bursary panel will also consider contributing to petrol costs where a coach has to travel outside Derbyshire to attend a course. A 20p per mile overall mileage cost can be included in the application and the 50 per cent criterion will apply as will the upper maximum limit of £200.
There is a target within Coaching Derbyshire to qualify 40 Level 3 coaches over the coming two years. Ideally, these coaches will be identified through Governing Bodies and through the Coach Bursary (with Governing Body endorsement), will be able to receive a grant of up to £350 towards costs.
As you may appreciate, the panel would like coaches to apply to other funding bodies the Derbyshire Community Foundation, Awards for All and to neighbouring County Sports Partnerships where their club/organisation is situated on a boundary for example.
The Derbyshire Sport Coach Bursary will now operate on a fixed annual basis.
The deadlines for each of the rounds across the next year are:
