Disability Coaching Bursary
Our specialist Disability Coaching and Activator Bursary is funded through the IMPACT project and is open until September 30th. The bursary can offer up to 100% of course costs, please contact Suzanne.Watson@derbyshire.gov.uk or call 01773 571232.
One of the main barriers faced when setting up new sports activity sessions is the lack of formally qualified coaches available to deliver activity and taking a step onto the coaching ladder can often be a big step, particularly for a volunteer.
So, in recent years, National Governing Bodies (NGBs) have been investing in new 'Activator' courses to combat these issues and allow more people to get involved in the leadership of new activities.
An Activator Course aims to equip the candidates with the tools to be able to co-ordinate a fun warm up game that will get everyone talking to each other, play some games from Games Cards, progress the session to include to a game of the focus sport, deliver a cool down and chat about what they enjoyed and what they would like to do next time.
The deadline for the 2015 round has passed but we are looking at reopening a further round in the future.
