Greg Prescott - Quarndon Cricket Club
As the managing director of a Loughborough engineering company, Greg Prescott has a job with many responsibilities - but volunteering with his local cricket club has given him an outlet from his day job.
He has helped at Quarndon Cricket Club for the past six years, since his son joined a junior team. His daughter has now followed and he has progressed to coaching by taking the ECB courses.
He said: "It's not just about cricket, but about people coming together as a community.
"In many villages now there is no shop or pub so there are few places to congregate so a club builds community.
"It is also great to work with young people and it gives them recreation and a club environment."
Together with another parent, Greg, (47), now manages one of Quarndon Cricket Club's junior teams and assists its professional coaches in coaching the young players.
He is also secretary of the junior committee, and so commits several hours a week to his various roles at the club.
"You have to juggle your priorities but I find it is really worthwhile," said Greg. "My job has its responsibilities but it is good to have a let out."
