Derbyshire Interim Action Plan for Coaching
In September 2006, Derbyshire Sport and Sports Coach UK worked together to develop an interim action plan in line with the UK Action Plan for Coaching.
The plan is structured around the same 12 key actions, which are categorised into 5 themes (UK Coaching Model, Front Line Coaching, Support for Coaches, Licensing, Registration and specialist qualifications, Research and Development).
Some of the main actions within the action plan include:
- Set up of a Coach Bursary Fund
- Co-ordinated Coach Education
- Development of a Derbyshire Coach Mark
- Support and improvement of the Community Sports Coach Scheme

Derbyshire Action Plan for Coaching 07/08
With the launch of the UK Action Plan for Coaching now imminent, the Derbyshire Action Plan for Coaching has now been revisited and revised, ready for consultation with key partners and sign off in June 2007.
As well as continuation of Key Actions for 2007/2008 could include:
- Expansion of the Coach Bursary Fund. The £10,000 per year could be matched against Community Investment Funding to increase the pot available. In round 2 applications, currently total £3,050, with 4 weeks left until the end of the round.
- Development of a Coach Database. This could be web based and would include personal details, qualifications and training needs. Discussions would need to happen to establish who could access this information. It would need to have a warning that the coaches would need to be checked prior to employment.
- Coaching specific pages on Derbyshire Sport website. This could be a one stop shop. It would include the Coach Education pages, Coach Database, contact details for information and advice, good news stories, and statistics on Community Sport Coach delivery
- Review of delivery by Community Sports Coaches, how they link with other schemes including Step into Sport, Leadership Academy, Higher/Further Education, 16+ agenda. This would follow the outcome of the Spending Review in June 2007
- Other targeted Coach development work
- Mapping exercise using Governing Body County Plans and Competition Frameworks to establish numbers of coaches needed in each sport.

Volunteering
During 2007 - 2008, Derbyshire Sport will begin to explore how it can support and develop volunteers.
This will form part of the Workforce Development Plan for Year 2 (2008/09).
