Christopher Steeples

The 23-year-old swimmer, from Church Broughton, qualified to swim at the National Championships where he finished second in the 100m breaststroke in a season's best.

Christopher says: "My training is focused around qualifying for the 2016 Olympics trials in April. The training is being focused on our skills as these are the areas where we can make the biggest gains in the short period of time.

"I have competed in my first competition for the year at the Manchester International, where I swam very close to my personal bests in the 100m and 50m breaststroke, while I won the 200m breaststroke in a personal best time.

"It is a very good stepping stone onto my next competition, which takes place in Italy.

"Last year I competed in many competitions abroad to gain experience racing against the top five in the world and get used to racing in many different challenging situations."
