Belper School pupil Charlie is a 15-year-old basketball player from Belper. He competes for Derby Trailblazers in the EBL National League, Under-18s Premier and Senior Men's Division Four teams as starting point guard and was selected to represent Derbyshire at the 2016 County Tournament and was then selected for the East Midlands Regional team. He was part of the England Under-15 Boys Development Team which won the champions title at the Copenhagen Invitational Tournament.
Charlie says: "My priority team is Derby Trailblazers Under-18s Premier team and I also plays for the senior men's team. It requires me to train most evenings during the week and then normally play two games at the weekend.
"I have just been selected for the England Under-16 team, which I will train with over the next year with the aim to make the final 12 players selected to go and represent Team GB at the European Championships during the summer of2017.
"My aim within his club is to have a successful season and my team to make the Final Fours and become National League champions.
"I'm also trying to gain good academic grades at school to help gain a full scholarship to a highly-ranked basketball academy within the country or in Europe.
"My ultimate goal for my sporting future career is to gain scholarship to a NCAA USA Division 1 college and to eventually play professional basketball in either America or Europe."
