The 16-year-old 400m hurdler, from Duffield and a student at Ecclesbourne School, is a member of Amber Valley and Erewash AC and on the Derbyshire Institute of Sport programme, winning a silver medal at the English Schools Athletics Championships.
Alex says: "I am a track and field athlete and my chosen event is the 400 metre hurdles. I've been doing this event for two years and have progressed as an athlete significantly.
"I have been successful at my age group at both national and international competitions. This has provided great experience and supported my improvement in becoming a better athlete for the future, while enhanced my learning curve.
"The current training I am doing in this winter period is endurance running sessions, where distance is increased with longer recovery time, strength and conditioning in the gym and some hard work on improving my hurdling technique.
"Next season, my main goal and motivation is to qualify and be selected for the Under-18 European Youth Championships, where I would wear my first GB vest.
"My other goal is to try and make it to the finals of the nation competitions in my first year as an Under-20.
My ultimate sporting ambition is to one day win medals for Great Britain in the Olympic Games, European and World Athletics Championships, competing to the best of my ability. I also want to be a role model for young athletes to help them fulfil their dreams."
