Alastair is a 15-year-old K1 and C1 slalom canoeist from Chapel-en-le-Frith and a student at Chapel-en-le-Frith High School. He is a member of the Great Britain Super Regional Northern Squad and competed in a European Junior Cup race in the Czech Republic this summer.

Alastair says: "I have competed at canoe slalom races throughout 2016 all across the UK, climbing up the rankings in my division and achieving promotion near the end of the race season - October.

"I am now in the top division. I train four times a week and most weekends, which includes gym sessions, a flat water sessions, and white water sessions at Nottingham Holme Pierrepont National Water Sports Centre, and occasionally Lee Valley, London.

"I am now in the premier division, the top division in the sport, and I now have the challenge of competing with the top athletes of this sport to progress up the ranking.

"I have also recently taken part in the British Open on the 17th and 18th of September, which was held in London at the 2012 Olympic course. Lee Valley will become an important part of my training plan in the upcoming years.

"I have entered into all the events next race season in order to maximise my progress going up the ranking next race season. Now I am in Prem, it also makes me eligible to compete in the British Selection Race, next April, which I will training hard for."
