Summary
- It was agreed that the Leadership Team would be responsible for developing a vision for the future of sport in Derbyshire. It was also agreed that the Team would influence others, be flexible, fair and credible.
- The Team behaviours and attributes were agreed as trust worthy, good communication, inspirational, empowering and capable.
- Three draft Purpose Statements for the Partnership were agreed as:
- To release the power of sport and recreation for people in and visiting Derbyshire
- Working together to release the power of sport and physical recreation for the betterment of all of the people of Derbyshire
- Working with passion and commitment to promote the value of sport and active recreation to improve the quality of life for people in Derbyshire
- The 'Big Ticket Items' for resolution within the Review were agreed as:
- Supporting the sporting workforce
- Issues of governance (balance of power) and decision making
- Communication and advocacy
- Access issues - in widest sense (transport, facilities, low participation groups)
- Exploring multi sports clubs
- Making the most out of natural outdoor resource (Derbys Unique Selling Point)
- Proving the value and importance of the Partnership to whom by whom
- Influencing – statutory policy (eg PE times in school)
- Developing tourism and economic benefits
- Identifying needs and prioritisation them (taking account of: capacity to deliver – resources, time and people)
- Getting the purpose right - agreeing what are we here for?
- Being sustainable - avoiding short termism and being target driven
- Identifying: benefits, added value, roles and responsibilities (making the most/avoiding duplication: local – countrywide)
