The 16-year-old swimmer, from Buxton, won silver medals in the 200m individual medley and 100m butterfly at the British Summer Nationals. She also won bronze in the 200m butterfly and 200m breaststroke. She is a member of the British Swimming World Class Podium Potential Programme.

Abbie says: "My home town is Buxton, but I live in Loughborough, study at the College and swim for Loughborough University at the British Swimming National Performance Centre.

"I have been given a place on the World Class Podium Potential Programme for the third year running for 2015-2016 season.

"In 2015, I represented Great Britain at the first European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan and became the European Junior Champion in the 400m Individual Medley, won a bronze medal in the 200m individual medley and a bronze and silver medal in the relays.

"My training has started really well at Loughborough. I have started the short course season well including a personal best in the 400m IM at a meet at Manchester and can see improvements in several other events.

"I have just returned from swimming in the Fina Swimming World Cup in Doha and Dubai (October/November 2015) and in December 2015 I will be going on a training camp in Japan with British Swimming.

"My aims for this year are to qualify for the European Junior Championships in Hungary and challenge for a place at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. My ultimate aim in my swimming career is to win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020!"
